Shower

This weekend was the first of two bridal showers for me this summer. My lovely mother flew in from Chicago for the weekend and it was great to see her! The hosts were my maid of honor J and an old family friend that I call “aunt” even though we are not related. It was a fairly intimate affair which I originally thought would look weird or sad, but it ended up being really nice. My aunt and J made all of the food- including a delicious caramel pecan cheesecake (YUM!). When my aunt asked what my favorite food was, I’m pretty sure she wasn’t expecting me to answer “corn.” Ha! She was a trooper though- putting corn in not one, but two of the dishes!

As a really cute touch, she asked my mom to send her old pictures of me in advance so that she could frame them and put them around the table. Some of them were hilarious! It was funny for my friends to see them as my oldest friend there was J and she has only known me since freshman year in college. My aunt also ordered M&Ms that said “NSC and CP” or “CP and NSC” on them which was a cute touch.

After the delicious lunch I started to open presents. There was a catch though- J had called CP earlier that week with predetermined questions and for every question that I got right, I then got to open a present. Since I had consumed a few champagne glasses by this point, I had a fantastic time babbling on with stories relating to the questions.

All in all, a really good time. CP’s mom and sister have planned another one for me in August- hopefully it’s just as fun!*

*Although there really is no need for TWO bridal showers. Oh well.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I am glad that it worked out well and fun times were had by all.

Two showers are not that bad, sometimes logistics work against you.

My aunt and maid of honor did something similar at my shower. They got old pictures of me AND Sweets and posted them along a wall at my aunt's house. It was fun taking a walk down memory lane ... and seeing Sweets during the years way before I ever knew him!
