I don't think that there was a blogger who put together the Day in the Life quarterly post this time around, so I decided to do it myself since I always think that it is fun to go back and see how things have changed.
Day in the Life- Winter(ish) 2018
CP is 41 years old
NSC is 39 years old
Izzy is 4 years old
Wes is almost 20 months old
Marshmallow is 3 years old
Cocoa is 2 years old
I picked Friday, March 2nd because I kept forgetting to do it during the last two weeks of February- so really not for any particular reason!
3:29- I get up to pee, then fall back asleep.
4:39- CP grabs Cocoa and shoos him out of the room, then closes the door because he is waking us up. (We got the cats less than a month ago so we are still learning about each other.)
5:30- Alarm on my phone goes off. CP heads to the shower, I try to sleep more.
5:47- Cocoa comes in and starts purring and rubbing on me because CP left the door open. He gently bites my hand which is something new (and not okay because he has the longest teeth we have ever seen on a cat. CP joked the other day that if we died in the house Cocoa would definitely eat us.) I grab my phone to Google what to do when you cat bites you and find a few articles, but decide that it is too early to really read them. I get up to feed the cats and scoop out their litter boxes.
6:05- CP is out of the bathroom so I head in to wash my face, tweeze my eyebrows, put on deodorant and makeup, etc. I would usually shower but I showered yesterday afternoon after working out and got my hair colored and straightened last night, so I always like rocking the straight look the next day.
6:24- I hear CP go in and wake up Izzy. She is not happy about waking up, like most mornings. I get dressed and then go into Wes’ room to wake him up. He is amenable to getting up today and we do it without much fanfare while he looks at his “Brown bear, Brown Bear” book. I ask him some questions, and when he wants to respond yes he puts his chin down to his chest and nods his head (this is new and adorable). We head downstairs and Wes gets his morning milk.

6:49- I grab both kids some Cheerios for the car since they are both asking for them. CP leaves. Wes says “bye” (a new word this week!). I get the kids into jackets and get annoyed at CP because Wes’ gloves from yesterday are not to be found. Today it was actually a fairly easy day to get the kids ready to leave the house.
7:01- I get the kids in the car and we are off to daycare. Izzy talks about the fact that she is happy that the sun is shining today. I point out a train which gets Wes smiling. Wes cries when I am unloading him out of the car because he wants his “choo choo” book (Thomas the train book) and I say no to bringing it inside. I drop Wes off first in his classroom, then Izzy to her classroom.
By 7:18 I am heading back home. I lock our car before heading in the house because there is a local homeless man who has been going into unlocked cars for the past few weeks looking for money (that’s a fun phone call from your neighbor when you are at work). He has been caught twice already on our street and has a court date coming up; hopefully the judge will order him to get some help (he is mentally ill). I heat up breakfast- a spinach and egg sandwich (4 pts) and read a Washington Post article about Jimmy Kimmel. I eat quickly, pack up my lunch and fill up my water bottle, say goodbye to the cats, and head out the door to walk to the train. On my way I drop off 10 postcards that I wrote for the Postcards to Voters group. I type up some notes on the day so far while on the train. I turn on the latest Pod Save America podcast episode.

8:30- After my half mile walk to work (during which I successfully stopped myself from getting Starbucks because I knew that I could make coffee when I got into the office), I sit down and immediately a coworker from a different division comes over to gripe about another coworker (from a third division) we work with. We laugh for a few minutes before I get up to say hi to my boss in the office next to mine and talk to him briefly. I head to the bathroom and on the way back to my office fill up my coffee cup with water. The secretary is not in to make coffee today so I decide to make my own with Starbucks instant coffee and then to add the Weight Watchers 0 point mocha powered creamer. I am wary of trying it because I tried the pumpkin spice flavored one and it was TERRIBLE. I try my first sip and this is also terrible, but I decide to put a tablespoon of Coffee Mate Caramel flavor liquid creamer (2 pts) and it makes it drinkable. Usually I put in two tablespoons of the liquid creamer in so I just saved two points today!

My boss' boss comes into the office and I ask how his flight from OH went last night because there was talk it would have been cancelled due to weather. My boss comes into the office and the three of us end up talking for about an hour on various things. I always have to be careful about what I say around my boss' boss because he is a Republican and part of our discussion gets into politics so I keep my mouth shut. I gulp down my lukewarm coffee afterwards and eat a banana (0 pts) while doing some work.
10:40- I head to the bathroom again and fill up my water bottle. I confuse two coworkers with my straight hair because they only see it on me a few times a year and as I walk I also notice that my abs and my thighs are sore from my T25 ab interval workout yesterday during lunch. Nice! I quickly check my email and click on an article in the Scary Mommy newsletter about how often people change bedsheets. I try to do it every two weeks, but certainly don't get to it every week. Wait you are supposed to vacuum your mattress too? Guess I'll be doing that the next time I change the sheets! One more thing to add to the list....
11- I jump on a call with a colleague; we are off by 11:30. I eat some raspberries and strawberries (0 pts) and do some work on weekly report due by 1pm. My boss leaves at 12pm as he is taking the afternoon off.

12:45- Report is sent off and I heat up lunch- zucchini noodles with 1/4 cup of alfredo sauce and rotisserie chicken (no skin) on top (5 pts). It doesn't look great, but it tastes pretty good. I also eat some sugar snap peas (0 pts) while reading the Daily 202 newsletter from the Washington Post.

The sun is shining so I decide to take a quick walk outside while listening to the last 15 minutes of Pod Save America podcast. Halfway through the walk I start a This American Life podcast from December titled "Becoming a Badger." I take some touristy photos of my 3000+ step walk. :-)

I wish I had not worn boots to take this walk though...

1:45- I'm back in the office and working on a regional report for a while.
3:10- A coworker stops by to ask a question and he is a talker so it is never just a quick question. I glance over at 3:33 and realize that I am 3 minutes late to a conference call; luckily the third person on the call was even later than me. We put together a plan for a new project we are working on and get off by 4:15. I run to the bathroom (which I should have done before the call), check and answer a few emails and eat an apple (0 pts) before starting to pack up. I listen to the This American Life podcast on my walk to the train and throughout the ride while typing up notes on my day.
5:20- i get off the train and I hit 10,000 steps for the day. See a friend and his wife at the park and stop to talk for a minute. Keep walking home and arrive to utter chaos as CP is trying to make dinner. I quickly drop my stuff while Wes begs for a hug and to be picked up and as Izzy runs around. CP yells at Izzy as she runs through the kitchen while he is carrying boiling water. She runs to the stairs and gets upset so I talk to her about having her listening ears on and how she could have gotten really hurt with the water.

The chaos continues as I simultaneously try to set the table and deal with the kids while CP cooks. Dinner is served around 6pm and Izzy continues to not really listen, at one point talking a lot about Professor Poopy Pants (a neighbor gave us a Captain Underpants book and it is the coolest thing to talk about at school). I have a garden salad with Bolthouse Farms Salsa Avocado dressing (2 pts), Salmon (4 pts), broccoli (0 pts), and a cup of pasta (4 pts). Wes doesn't eat much of his pasta dinner but eats a ton of raspberries and a tangerine.

After dinner I grab Izzy and corral her upstairs for a bath. I persuade her to have a quick bath so that she doesn't have to share the water with Wes.

After she gets out I brush her hair (which always elicits whining and crying) and we head downstairs because CP has promised Izzy a movie. Izzy insists on Olaf's Adventure which I have never heard of but she SWEARS I told her about the movie. ??? I check Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, but end up buying it on iTunes.

7:30- I'm free! I kiss the kids goodnight and run out of the house with my wine and all of the necessary Bunco items. I pick up a neighbor and we walk to another neighbor's house for the night. I put down my wine, say hi to the host, and then start to get the tables ready for the night putting down dice, the Bunco sheets, and pens. I get out my cowbell and let everyone know that we will start in a few minutes, but if anyone needs to learn the rules or a refresher that I will give a quick lesson.
8:10- We start the games and I start to drink some champagne (4 pts) while talking to my tablemates. Four glasses of champagne later I am too tempted by the snacks out on the different tables so I am eating peanut m&ms, sesame sticks, popcorn, etc. (??? pts- aka A LOT) Whoops.
10:40- The games are over and I figure out the winners of each category (aka not me tonight). There is one roll-off. I also get the next two months of hosts set up which is great! I clean up the tables and then stay to chat with friends while drinking a glass of red wine (4 pts).
12:35- Whoa. Didn't realize that it was so late so I get my coat and head home, walking with a friend. I drink some water before heading up to bed, where CP is currently snoring. SLEEP.
Steps for the day: 12,515
Weight watchers points for the day: ???? It's too bad because I was doing so well until I started drinking....
