Paradise City Arts Festival

Recently CP and I went to the Paradise City Arts Festival. I had never heard of it, but CP’s dad and girlfriend have been going for years and thought we might enjoy it.

There were a lot of really nice things there (especially ones that we couldn’t afford), but we left with a few things for the house.

First we bought two watercolors from Greg Stones. We walked past his booth a couple of times and thought that his stuff was pretty funny. CP suggested that we get a couple and hang them up in the bathroom or something. It was mainly to have people do a double-take to make sure what they are looking at was really what was in the watercolor.

We ended up getting the following watercolors and buying two black frames at Michaels:

"Sock Monkey vs. Penguin"

Yes, that is a sock monkey yielding an axe and a penguin with a gun.

"3 Penguins, 3 Sock Monkeys"

We like to consider this one the aftermath of the battle above.

I have a special affinity for the sock monkeys and penguins, but Greg also has stuff with zombies, clowns, monsters and women flashing in the distance. Good stuff. And already the watercolors puzzled my MIL when she came to Thanksgiving. WIN!

We also ended up buying candlesticks (although we didn’t find suitable candles before Thanksgiving- FAIL) from Winnepesaukee Forge. http://irontable.com/ Ours are a little different from the ones shown on their website, but you can make all kinds of cool patterns from the candlesticks.


As always at an arts festival there were definitely some “interesting” things. CP and I don’t claim to be creative and so knowing what goes on in some of these minds? Well, who knows. One of the time consuming, but very odd things we saw at the festival? This:

Meanwhile my FIL and his girlfriend were looking at wedding rings (they had some high end jewelry at this festival) which is exciting news. I guess my FIL actually proposed years ago and they came to a family party and told everyone…..and then they got cold feet/decided that they never wanted to be married again so it never happened. They have been talking about it for years, so maybe they are finally going to take the plunge?
