We so quickly forget about disasters when we are not seeing the images on a daily basis (it doesn't help when there have been so many disasters this year). Recovery help will be needed for not months, but years after this hurricane. For those of you that have not been reading my blog for a long time, I went out to NY after Superstorm Sandy in late 2012 and to this day, I still see stories about houses in Long Island that haven't been rebuilt yet.

Thank you for posting these. You’re right that once the initial drama is over, we rarely revisit these areas (as a nation, in the media). It’s important to see the lingering aftermath, and to understand how long it takes for the damage to be undone. Sometimes things never go back to how they were.
So devastating how much damage was done. And to think how hard Puerto Rico was also hit!
