Microblog Mondays

For Thursday's frozen transfer (!), I am torn between telling the same people as I told last time about the transfer or keeping the information secret. It's weird how I'm having an internal struggle with myself.

This past weekend we were out with friends. They knew everything about my first IVF cycle and were the first to know of our friends that it had worked. While we were at lunch the wife turned to me and asked if anything was going on with a second baby. I discreetly answered that I had just undergone some testing but left it at that. True, but I could have gone into much more detail. At that point one of the kids interrupted us and needed attention so the conversation moved on.

Instead of everyone knowing our business- dates, shots, etc. am I trying to stay vague. It's crazy that the date of the transfer has been pinned down for a little bit now- but yet the only person that knows that date other than me and CP are my parents as my mom is my backup to drive me home if CP is called away for work (not likely at this point).

Maybe I will change my mind about being so open about the transfer after it happens, but for now I am sort of digging just being vague.

Every damn time I plan on keeping information to myself, it only lasts for a short time and then BLAH!!

It's always tricky to know who to tell what to. You don't want a bunch of people bugging you for updates. But sometimes it's nice to have a trusted friend or 2 "in the know." All the best to you!

Yeah, that's a hard one. I vote that you go with your gut and do what you feel comfortable with. Even if you later decide to change your mind.

Good luck for Thursday!

If I had my time back I would have been a bit more vague with our Prague cycle. It was just weird having so many people knowing something was up before we were able to formally announce in the second trimester!

I agree, feeling like talking about it even changes cycle to cycle. Go with your gut on when/who to tell.

Yep, I'm with Mel. Go with your gut on determining who you want to tell. Just do what makes you comfortable. And know that our fingers are crossed for you!

I am terrible at keeping my own secrets, but I was successfully vague on a cycle or two and it was FREEING. It is nice to have support when you're cycling and talk lining thickness and appointments with people, but then you realize that you've told them transfer so they may ask you (innocently enough) questions about testing, and when your test is, and are you feeling anything, and that gets very tiring and puts a lot of pressure on a body. Enjoy the vagueness while you can, if it feels right! (And props to you if you can do it for the long haul, because I blew myself in all the time and stunk at vaguery.)

Like others have said, go with your gut. This time around, I told family and closest friends right away and work soon after. However, online (read: FB), I have only once (maybe twice) mentioned this pregnancy and that was at 21 weeks or so. My IVF cycles were the same, some I felt like sharing, some I didn't. In any case, I wish you the best!

If it doesn't feel right to tell, it doesn't feel right.

I always felt that the more people I told, the more pressure I was under, the more people I'd have to talk to if it didn't work, the more disappointed emotions (others as well as my own) I'd have to deal with.
