Three weekends ago we took the plunge and bought Izzy a big girl bed, along with a dresser and matching bookshelf. We started to talk to her about moving to her new room with her new big girl bed. We picked out sheets and a comforter for her new full size bed. The next weekend the furniture arrived so we had to rush around the night before moving out the old furniture (it was the spare bedroom). Izzy's new room then sat there for a week while CP was in North Carolina for work. Izzy asked about sleeping in her new bed, but I told her that I had to wash her sheets first.
Last weekend, despite the fact that CP was going to be away in North Carolina again for work (and thus wouldn't be able to help if things didn't go well with her new bed), we officially moved her into her new room. We moved all of her clothes, books, stuffed animals, etc. and she is absolutely in love. The first test was a nap on Saturday- would she fall asleep or get out of bed? We gave her the one rule with the big girl bed- she couldn't get out and if she needed anything, she could call for Mommy or Daddy (we will obviously have to change this rule when we move her out of naptime and nighttime diapers, but it works for now). Since then, she has yet to get out of bed once we leave the room.
Here I was worried after reading other stories about having to sit outside the new bedroom (or just the new bed) for days/weeks to make sure that Izzy wasn't getting out of bed and all that worry was for naught. I guess I shouldn't brag just yet since it has only been a week but she seriously loves that bed. And it's nice to curl up with a book to read with her on the bed instead of the glider in the nursery.
Man did we luck out with this little lady.

You know, my husband was SO nervous when we moved Toddler Boy into a bed, but we really haven't had any crazy issues. We did put a baby gate at the top of the stairs just in case, but we usually hear him much sooner if he needs something, and he also will just come into our room instead of letting himself downstairs, thank goodness!
So glad Izzy is doing so well!
Palma loves her big girl bed too. Been in there for months and never got out once! Izzy is such a good girl and has always been such a good sleeper, I'm sure things will continue to go well :)

What a milestone! I love how happy (and tiny) she looks in her beautiful new big girl bed. I hope the transition continues on smoothly!
Both my kids transitioned to big kid beds with no problem at all. Annika was only like 21 months when we did it because she started climbing out of her crib, and it was totally fine (though she did fall out fairly regularly for awhile--we had a floor mattress so it wasn't a problem--and she would usually stay asleep on the floor, and it's been months since she last fell out so we are thinking about getting a bedframe). Glad it was similarly easy with Izzy!
Also, is that comforter from Target's new pillowfort line??
Well done, my son transitioned to his big bed with no issues at all either! Now if we could get him to go to bed without all the stalling tactics!
