Yes readers, I am asking for your help again. What can I say, I like to get people's opinions! Today I would like to know what there is to do in Cancun, Mexico. Yes, I know you can get drunk and party 24/ 7 there, but we will be down there with my parents and sister and I don't expect us to be doing body shots every night (maybe just Saturday!). *
Since I know that I just had a post on not spending money, I'm sure that you guys are wondering how CP and I are suddenly heading down to Mexico! A few months ago I was pretty sad when CP and I came to the realization that we couldn't spend $400 a plane ticket to head down to Mexico to spend time with my family in January. We just couldn't justify spending the money because between plane tickets, the dog kennel, airport parking, etc. etc. as we would be spending over $1000. Looking back on it, I am glad we waited.
CP couldn't decide what to get me for my birthday. I suggested that a plane ticket somewhere would be just fine with me....I was thinking a plane ticket to see our friends from law school out west....he thought laying by the pool in Mexico sounded just as good. Tickets to both places were very inexpensive ($200! And CP had a $200 voucher from getting bumped earlier this year), so after a quick discussion we decided that the beach sounded fantastic (the ice storm we just had might have helped with our decision). Frankly, we won't have to spend much money when vacationing with my parents. But if we flew out west we would want to go skiing, go out drinking heavily with friends, go out to eat, etc. It would have been very expensive.
As I have written about before, my parents and CP don't have the closest of relationships. Maybe spending more than an hour or two at a time with my parents on this trip will help with their relationship?
Anyway, this is where you guys come in. I am wondering what there is to do in Cancun. If you went there for spring break, you might not remember anything! But if you have been there on a semi-sober trip, I want to hear from you! I remember Bret Michaels on Rock of Love 2 took two of the girls down to Cancun and they went to Xcaret. Is this place really cheesy or pretty cool? I mean, you can swim with dolphins there so it has to be cool. Right? Right?
Any recommended restaurants? Do you need to rent a car? Are the ruins worth it? I want all the information you can give me! Thanks in advance!
*My sister sent me a invitation to do a self.com "reach your goal" to get ready for Cancun. I'm hoping to get some good recipes and maybe some extra exercises for the days CP and I aren't with the trainer.
