Milestones- I hear lots of insistent "Wesley" these days...meaning that I am doing something that Wesley wants to do himself! One of his favorite things is opening up my water bottle and then drinking from it. These days he recognizes that he can count things and is very good at quickly saying "two" if there are only two of something. He likes to listen while you count things as well.
I love Izzy's protective arm around Wes as they take a train ride together
He continues to love music. He does all of the hand motions for "Wheels on the Bus" and loves to sing along with some of the words to "You are my Sunshine", the aforementioned "Wheels", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "ABCs" and "Rain, Rain Go Away."
Language- This month Wes started to piece together more words. Definitely not sentences but more than two words together. He now says "see ya" when someone is leaving the room and a new favorite word is "yucky" (ex: a brown part on a banana). He likes to deem food "hot" and "cold" and refuse to eat it if one of us even says the word hot (even if we are talking about our food and not his).
Pajama day at school
He continues to give commands like "walk" if he wants us to get up and walk or will even command himself to "go, go, go" before he takes off running. Wes' friend at school Jayden is super verbal because he is bilingual (Spanish/English) and his teachers said that they "talk" to each other all of the time which hopefully means that Wes is going to pick up a lot of vocabulary from his friend.
Everything these days is "loud" which Wes says and then points to his ear. The train whistle is loud. The car driving by is loud. The dog bark is loud. Lol. If whatever is loud enough also scares him, he runs over to us and wants to be comforted.
Favorite Toy- A train that I bought at a consignment sale that has a few buttons on it that make random sounds (train whistle, duck quack, etc)
Favorite Book- The Wheels on the Bus book. As I mentioned above, he loves singing the song and basically the book is the song and drawings where he can point out the two dogs on the bus.
Mommy I forgot how much I love ice cream!
Sleep- Wes continues to be a great sleeper from about 7:30-8pm to past 7am on the weekends. He still takes about a two hour nap starting around 12:30 or 1pm.
Clothes- 2t clothes, but some are starting to become belly shirts so we may need to move up to 3t soon. Size 8 shoes.
Eating- Thankfully Izzy seems to be out of her picky phase (at least recently) and Wes likes to follow whatever she does. So while she chomps down on sugar snap peas, he does the same. It works out great! He is still a huge fan of cherry tomatoes so it looks like CP and I won't get a lot of cherry tomatoes from the garden again this year because the kids will eat them before we even get to them!
Loving Daddy's homemade tomato soup!
Teeth- Maybe a two year molar soon? Wes is certainly drooling up a storm and has his hand in his mouth constantly.
Illness- He had some stomach issues for a while where it wasn't quite diarrhea, but definitely not normal poos. We gave him lots of probiotics and stuck to a bland, bread-based diet and it looks like it cleared up.
Misc- Wes is in the middle of a hitting phase, so we are really working on talking about gentle hands and not hurting (mostly) Mommy. If he isn't hitting, he only wants to be ON Mommy and picked up by Mommy- which means that we are in Stage 2 clinger phase as well. If CP goes in his room to pick him up out of the crib the first thing Wes says is "see Mommy."
