New season, new day in the life installment. This time I decided to chronicle a weekend when CP was around, so this was our Saturday.
Thanks again Laura for this great idea! Interested in doing a DITL post? You have until November 3rd!
7:27- Wake up and my back is killing me. Getting out of bed hurts. Buster shakes his head, jostling his collar, which is meant to hurry me up. I hit the bathroom, change my tampon, and pop some motrin. I head downstairs, grab a jacket and take Buster out. Towards the back of our yard Buster smelled something delicious (ugh) and decided to roll in it. Gross. I head back inside to grab Buster's food from the basement and move sheets from the washer to the dryer. Meanwhile upstairs CP makes Izzy's bottles for the day.
8- Izzy starts making noise. I head upstairs but call for CP as I need help with giving Izzy her eye drops (she had an eye infection late last week). I change her diaper, put on clothes, then we sit in the glider for her bottle. CP jokes that Izzy has already given up on life because I have put her in sweatpants today. After her bottle, Izzy checks out my new t-shirt from our TN vacation (there is a bear on the front). Lots of pointing at the bear.
8:16- Izzy and I head downstairs. She is excited to see CP. She immediately pulls up on coffee table to play with the coasters while CP tries to get her to say daddy and give her kisses. She mainly wants to hit the coaster on the coffee table and then drop them on the floor.
8:35- CP plays with izzy and reads her "Brown Bear" while I make breakfast- two eggs and two pieces of toast with homemade strawberry jam.
8:41- I eat breakfast while CP reads a book just received yesterday from his mom- "The Littlest Mouse." It has a finger puppet which fascinates Izzy and she gives it a kiss (this is her new thing recently- kissing- tongue included of course- everything that she loves.)
 |
| Kisses! |
8:52- Izzy follows me into the kitchen. I try to wipe the poop smell off of Buster (from rolling outside) while Izzy plays with Buster's water bowl. I try to distract Izzy with magnets, but she goes back to the water bowl. *Sigh*
8:55- CP blends plain yogurt and frozen mango for Izzy's breakfast. Izzy has Cheerios and the mango yogurt while I run upstairs to put on deodorant and put in my contacts.
 |
| All done! (Notice the yogurt on her nose and the Cheerios stuck to her hand.) |
9:10- Back downstairs and outside to let Buster pee again and to try to brush the stench off him. It only partially works. :-(
9:15- CP and I try to figure out the day and the errands we need to run. We put Izzy in a box and push her around. She loves it. She also "plays" with Buster by throwing his ball at him.
9:50- CP and I make a grocery shopping list. I change diaper but get very frustrated because she won't stop squirming.
10- I realize Izzy is hungry because she didn't have much breakfast so I decide to give her a pouch. CP leaves for the grocery store and to get beer for tonight.
 |
| Why are you taking a picture of me Mom? |
10:17- I put Izzy in the car and curse that it raining. During the ride I talk to Izzy and sing to her in order to keep her awake.
10:27- We arrive at Lowe's. On our shopping list? Leaf bags and paint. I unfortunately get a not-trained-well-enough employee at the paint counter so she has to get someone else to help her. Meanwhile, I give Izzy my secret weapon from my purse- an Eclipse gum container that sounds like a rattle. It keeps her interested while we wait.
 |
| Fancy toys in the NSC household. :-) |
10:55- Done at Lowe's and we head over to DSW. It was a bust. I thought they would have kids shoes. I briefly contemplate going to Starbucks for a Chai Latte, but laugh at the drive thru line and head home.
11:13- Back home I feed Izzy a bottle. CP calls wondering about lunch.
11:35- I bring Izzy up to her room, sing and try to keep her still while I change her poopy diaper. In order to finally get the diaper on her, I allow her to eat the bottom of the hand sanitizer bottle. Parent of the year here!
 |
| Chewing on things is my favorite! |
11:38- Rock in chair with her for one minute then put her in crib. Turn on sleep giraffe. She immediately gets up to start playing with ribbit and bear. I head downstairs and turn on monitor. I hear her yakking away at the animals, but she is asleep by 11:45.
11:50- I check my email and buy two books from
bookbub.com (free or discounted e-books). CP comes home with food and beer. We unpack the grocery bags, and CP starts make lunch (grilled cheese with prosciutto and tomato). I do dishes.
12:15- We eat lunch. We argue about whether I like prosciutto (I don't). LOL. I also eat an apple and some Terra chips.
12:35- CP starts to cook bacon and other ingredients to add to the already made sauerkraut for the party tonight. I read about terra cycle online and how they recycle hard to recycle products.

| CP's homemade sauerkraut |
12:52- I decide to take Buster on a walk and he is very excited. I hit the bathroom, put on my shoes, get him in his harness and head out the door. I immediately wish I brought gloves. Oh well.
 |
| I love walks! |
1:22 One squirrel spotted, one barking at a dog through a fence incident, and two other dogs spotted and ignored later...we are home. I change pants to garden since Izzy is still asleep.
 |
| Tired Buster after our walk |
I head outside to rip out tomato plants, put away the cages, then rip up swiss chard which seems to have mold. CP comes outside and rips up the hot pepper plants.
 |
| Possibly our last year for tomatoes (at least in this location). |
 |
| Anyone know what this is on our swiss chard? |
2pm- Izzy wakes up. CP grabs her and heats up her lunch (rice and beans, applesauce). I stay outside to pick green and yellow beans. I can't believe that the plants are still producing!
 |
| I also snap a picture of our last daylily blooming. |
 |
| CP ordered an odd variety of bean (long and flat), but they are delicious! |
3pm- CP heads outside to deal with the poblano plants while I stay with Izzy inside. We read "The Littlest Kitten" and "I'm Just a Little Horse", two new books from Izzy's grandmother. I make towers out of blocks that Izzy enjoys knocking down, then saying "uh oh." It's adorable.
3:10 I put Izzy on the couch so that she can look out the window to see what Daddy is doing. Lots of smiles.
3:16- I grab a frozen teether for Izzy and she sucks on it for a few minutes while bouncing around on the couch.
3:22- We head upstairs to try to do some laundry. It ends up being half folding of laundry, half playing with Izzy and throwing her gently on the bed. Izzy also tries to "help" by throwing clothes out of the hamper.
3:42- I head downstairs to tell CP we need to start getting ready. CP grabs Izzy and they practice going up the stairs. I have yet to get video of stair climbing because it is impossible to film and also make sure that she doesn't fall so I grab my phone to film the achievement.
3:50- I pop into the shower while CP gives Izzy a bottle. After I am dressed I am handed Izzy who needs a poopy diaper change.
4:06- CP jumps in the shower while I struggle to change Izzy. Although she is fighting me she looks like she needs a nap. After getting clothes back on we rock for a minute and she goes in her crib. I head downstairs and turn the monitor on. She is standing and bopping around in the crib until 4:40 or so but finally falls asleep. Meanwhile I take the squash CP cooked earlier in the day for Izzy out of its skin, pack it up and put it in the fridge. I head upstairs to put on makeup and I find boots I bought before getting pregnant and haven't worn in almost two years. I'm happy that they didn't fall victim to my feet getting bigger after giving birth.
5:10 I head into Izzy's room to pick out an outfit for the party and to wake her up. I notice that she fell asleep using bear as a pillow. Awwww.
5:25- We head over to neighbor's party. Oktoberfest! We feed Izzy bratwurst and cheese and drink beer while hanging out.
6:55- Izzy starts to get fussy so I decide to bring her home. She is still a bit hungry so we have a banana. Afterwards we head upstairs where I give her a book while I change her diaper (success! It is much easier to change her!) and put on her pajamas. Izzy gets a bottle, I rock her and sing "You are my Sunshine" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." I tell her that I love her and that I will see her tomorrow. A few kisses later she is lowered into her crib, the sleep giraffe is turned on, and I am closing the door to her room.
 |
| Waving goodnight to the camera |
7:30- I head downstairs, put on the monitor and wait for her to fall asleep. A few minutes later I put CP's phone next to the monitor and call my phone, putting my phone on speaker (the monitor doesn't reach to my neighbor's house). I head back over to the party and I check on her and Buster twice- Buster is upstairs outside her room keeping a good watch on her door. :-)
Midnight- CP and I head home from the party and are asleep by 12:20. I wisely don't drink that much so I wake up on Sunday feeling not too bad.
