Day in the Life- Summer/Fall 2020

Day in the Life- Summer/Fall 2020

Monday, September 21, 2020

CP- 44 years old
NSC- 41.5 years old
Izzy- 6.75 years old
Wes- 4 years old
Marshmallow & Cocoa- ??

I think that I forgot to do a summer DITL so I'm doing a joint summer/fall on the first day of fall. No appearance from CP (other than on Facetime) as his company sent him out to CA on Sunday for two weeks. You know, with wildfires, earthquakes, and a pandemic. Awesome.

Without further ado, my Monday.

Sunday night, 11:04p- Turn light off and go to bed.

1:28am- I hear Izzy calling for me and she is crying because she peed in her pullup. (She recently had a few days dry and has woken up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night a few times in the past week so I think the chemical finally turned on in her brain!) We head to the bathroom and I talk to her about the fact that this is a process and it may take a little bit of time, but that I am so proud she even woke up! She sleeps like a log so this is huge. She pees, then wants me to talk to her as I get her back into bed. I tell her that it's time to go back to sleep. I head back to my bed.

7:03- Phone starts chirping from text messages. One of our friend’s kids has a fever (again). This is a reoccurring thing and has gotten COVID tested twice already- negative results both times (FYI- she got her COVID results again today- negative!). We were just at her (outdoor) birthday party on Saturday. I change my phone settings so that they don’t start going off until 7:30am and try to fall back asleep but of course it is impossible.

7:30- Alarm goes off. I hear the cats scratching so I head downstairs to feed them and hit their food button.

Marshmallow desperately waiting for food

Bathroom stop. I get a text from a coworker to our work group that his oldest child tried acid this weekend and overdosed. YIKES. I text over my support. I weigh myself and I'm not surprised that I am up from Friday as I had pizza Friday night and leftover pizza last night for dinner. It's only two pounds so nothing too bad. I then get dressed.

7:50- Wake up the kids. I do a temperature check on Izzy for her school's self assessment (she will head in person for 40 minutes today). Encourage the kids to get dressed.

8- We all head downstairs and I make them breakfast. I tell Izzy that she may be cold with her current outfit. She tells me that these are her "inside clothes” and she will bring a jacket for "outside clothes." LOL. Encourage eating as we are (as always) running late.

No idea why Wes decided to make this face

Izzy's "inside clothes"

8:25- We get shoes on, grab masks, and leave the house. We drop Izzy off first at her "1st grade daycare" aka the daycare that is helping Izzy with her e-learning.

8:45- I then drop Wes off at his daycare. His temperature is a bit high because I had the heat on in car but I'm not worried because he was temperature checked at Izzy’s dropoff too.

8:50- I'm home and five minutes later I head downstairs for a workout. Week 2, Day 4 of 10 Rounds for a boxing/lifting Beachbody workout. Today is a leg lifting day and I can use my new 20 lbs dumbbells! I had been waiting for dumbbells from Amazon and the delivery driver delivered them to a city over an hour away two months ago. Thankfully I was able to find some local kid selling new dumbbells. I have no idea where he got them from, but he even delivered the 20 pounders to my house. I now have him looking for 25 pounders for me. :-) During my workout I hear the cats racing around upstairs. Weirdos.

The cast on a rooftop in Vegas

9:40- Workout complete, I head upstairs for a quick shower.

10- I start up my computer and jump on a team meeting.

11- Meeting over! I jump on another meeting. It ends after 20 minutes so I am able to head downstairs to make coffee which I now drink black in order to clean fast. I have been drinking black coffee for two months now and it is still disgusting. Less disgusting than it used to be....but still disgusting. I assume this will always be the case.

Blech

Cocoa hangs out on the bed in our room while I am working all day long

11:30- Next meeting. This meeting is an hour and a half, but at least one where I can hang back and just listen most of the meeting.

During the call I got a call from Wes' daycare. I guess this morning he was going to the bathroom and told his teacher that he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot everyone and then something about a bomb to make everyone scatter. WTF he is FOUR YEARS OLD. I'm flabbergasted/confused about this and slightly worried that they are going to expel Wes from preschool. I tell the director that we don't have any guns and other than Star Wars, we don't let Wes watch any violent movies/tv shows/iPad/etc. She probably doesn't believe me. I let her know that I will talk to Wes. I get back on camera and text CP.

1pm- Next meeting.

2- Meeting ends, I head downstairs for lunch after 19 hours of fasting. Scrambled eggs on a tortilla with some salsa. Green grapes on the side. I listen to part of a "Lovett or Leave It" podcast episode, then head upstairs at 2:30pm.

2:30- Review racial equity resources before my next call at 3pm. Right before my call the delivery driver calls to let me know that my Farmer's Fridge has been delivered. My mom and sister rave about these salads so I thought that I would try them out while CP was gone. So far, super yummy!

3pm- Call on racial equity work.

4pm- Try to figure out where the recording of the call is and how I can share it.

Marshmallow usually doesn't come up here to hang out on our bed so she must be feeling lonely with CP gone.

4:15- Leave for a quick trip to the grocery store for fruit, prunes, and jelly.

4:30- Pick up Wes. In the car we have a discussion about what he said to his teacher. His version is slightly different and not as sinister, but still.

4:45- Pick up Izzy. I'm running out of gas so we stop by Costco for gas. Wes is yelling in the car while I'm outside and of course I can't hear what's going on. (*sigh*) We get home and I put groceries away while telling the kids to pee and get their shoes back on. I have Izzy try on her new snow boots that arrived today (size 3!!).

5:15pm- It's so nice out and we have time before dinner so we head out on a bike ride. I put my foot down suddenly halfway through a feel a shooting pain- UGH I have hurt my plantar fasciitis. ARGH.

5:45- We are home. The kids feed the cats.

I start to make dinner while the kids make a fort. I also text with CP about Facetiming and check email from 1st grade daycare. Easy dinner is ready so I sit down with the kids to eat. Izzy doesn't want soup, but both kids eat it anyway.

Excited faces for soup.

7pm- I eat a mini Snickers while the kids run upstairs to get pajamas on and brush teeth. I head upstairs to help and tell them that the faster they go, the more reading time we will have.
Text with CP that he has some time to talk. We sit in Wes' room and Facetime with CP. The kids are fascinated that it is still light out while dark here. CP and I have a talk with Wes about what he said at school. Wes gets upset and makes himself cry. Izzy gets upset because at one point she also tries to parent Wes and we ask her not to do that. She eventually comes back into the room to talk to CP and we find out that because she didn't know her log in, she didn't do any of her homework during asynchronous learning today. (*sigh*)

We finish talking to CP and I read The Bucket Book and finish Notebook of Doom #5. Wes gives me lots of hugs to fill my bucket, I turn out the light and go into Izzy's room. I ask her to read me "Take Me to the Zoo" and she is able to read the entire book by herself and it was not painfully slow. Progress!

8:30- I grab my computer and head downstairs.

I partially listen to school board meeting then give up. Wes comes down at some point to tell me that he has to pee.

I do 2.5 hours of work while watching Shrill. It's nice to have something on in the background while working- generally I am unable to do that.

I stop working and while watching one last Shrill episode, I upload pictures to this post.

11:30- Head upstairs.

12- turn off light and go to bed.

Day in the Life- Spring 2020- Quarantine edition

Day in the Life- Spring 2020 (Quarantine Edition)
Tuesday, May 5

CP in 43, NSC is 41, Izzy is 6.5, Wes is 3 years old for only two more months
Marshmallow and Cocoa are ?

This post is not going to be perfect, but if I don't get it down with the imperfections, I am going to forget to do it.

The night before....
11:10pm- CP comes upstairs, I take a few minutes to finish what I am doing and shut down my computer. Change into pajamas, head to the bathroom and hear Wes. He is still awake as well (!!! Hopefully just woke up), I stand while he goes to the bathroom & tuck him in. Brush teeth, take contacts out.

11:30pm- CP is a bit annoyed b/c it is late and he wakes up early to start working so I turn the light off (he has been sleeping on the couch downstairs while I work). He immediately falls asleep and starts snoring, I wind down for the night on my phone and shut it off at 11:57.

That day....
2:53am- bathroom

5:45- CP’s alarm goes off. While he gets dressed, I pee and go back to bed. He heads downstairs to eat breakfast and start working.

7:47- I wake up. I can hear CP talking to someone for work through the vent even though he has set up a temporary office in the basement. I start typing up this DITL as I slowly wake up.

8- Bathroom, put in contacts & deodorant. I can hear my work IM bings going a little crazy in the bedroom. Start working while the kids are still asleep. I open up the curtains and see that it rained a bit- booooo.

8:50- Cocoa comes in and wants to play with my feet. I shoo him away b/c I really need to cut his nails; right now they are too sharp. I hear Izzy awake and she bursts into my room and says "I need to work on my invention!" I promise to head downstairs with her after I send this last email. izzy plays with Cocoa.

9- downstairs. Izzy starts to work on her invention, I clean up the counter a bit before breakfast.

9:15- Wes is up. I head upstairs as he doesn't want to get dressed alone. His room smells like pee. My stomach growls; I haven’t had enough water today. Wes is standing naked in front of me excitedly talking about a sleep over in his bunk bed with Izzy. Wes wants to wear all black so that he can be Black Panther.

The kids fight a bit about which chair to sit in, I make Izzy do some belly breaths to calm down. Wesley gets mad that we keep calling him Wesley instead of Black Panther. The kids get quiet while they eat. They both get a second bowl of Cheerios while I email Wes' doctor to ask whether he would be at higher risk for complications from COVID b/c he had premature lung syndrome when he was born. CP and I are trying to decide whether we would have the kids go to summer camp if it is even open this summer and if Wes is at higher risk it makes it a very easy choice.

10- Izzy starts working on ABC Mouse while Wes colors. I do a little work. Of course there is yet another emergency at work. Wes becomes more interested in ABC mouse than coloring.

10:15- Izzy's zoom call starts and Wes then gets to go on ABC mouse while I do work. Izzy shows off her invention to her class and of course it doesn't work this time. LOL. A few minutes later while CP and I talk about texting the person that we have asked to possibly babysit the kids this summer, Izzy falls off the stool. *sigh* She's okay but this happens way more than it should.

10:45- Izzy is off her zoom call. CP and I talk about the babysitter for a few minutes as well. Wes climbs up on a step stool, Izzy brings him down, he gets mad and pinches her. I put him in time out and we talk about his behavior. *sigh* Izzy puts her shoes on and goes to the bathroom, Wes does the same.

11- We finally get outside. Wes wants to ride his two wheeler (he just learned this past weekend after only a few weeks on the balance bike!), Izzy wants to ride her bike as well. It's raining a little bit but the kids NEED to get outside. I try to work with Wes on stopping as he isn't great at it. We head to a nearby parking lot so that he can practice and Izzy can whip around. A pregnant neighbor walks by with her three boys- I can't imagine that right now, although at least she isn't working (although her husband is!). We talk for a few minutes and then they keep walking.

I let the kids ride around until 11:30 when it's time to go. Wes is sort of able to stop but then crumbles to the ground saying that he will never ride that bike again. (This sort of sentiment is fairly normal coming out of him these days- it's rather frustrating) I get the kids inside the house, set Izzy up to watch an e-learning video and start to make lunch. PB&J for Wes, homemade corn chowder for me and Izzy. I also put out grapes, Ritz crackers, and cherry tomatoes.

11:50-  I eat my lunch quickly, empty out the dishwasher, put breakfast dishes in the dishwasher and check my work email while the kids mostly play with their food- at some point the kids are saying a lot about the coronavirus. I text CP at 12:15 to see if he is almost done as it’s time for me to work. He finally comes up at 11:23, we talk for a few minutes while he heats up his soup. I make a cup of coffee and put Starbucks Caramel
Macchiato creamer in it, then I head upstairs.

12:30- I hear the kids downstairs while I start to work again. CP makes them head outside. I get tired, but it's almost time for my first call of the day....so time to perk up!

WORK. Calls. Lots of people around me dropping the ball- why can't they just do it right the first time??? A few times of dropping swears in work conversations because things that people want us to do are making things harder.

3:45- Head downstairs to eat a banana and a handful of pretzel chips.

6- I am stressed and tense after my work day today and have a lot of emails and work to get to tomorrow. Wes, Izzy and CP are back from going outside. Wes yells up the stairs, "Mommy where is you?" CP tells him that I am still working and will be down soon. A few minutes later I head downstairs for dinner. I come down and see CP just putting the chicken in the oven, so I know it is going to be a while. The kids ask for a show and since they haven't had one all day we allow it. I ask CP if I am needed; I am not so I head upstairs to quickly change before going to the basement to do Day 15 of Morning Meltdown- that's right I started it over again because I loved it so much! Thankfully it is yoga/stretching day so nothing too strenuous and it helps me relax. I jump into a quick shower and as soon as I get downstairs we eat dinner. Roasted chicken with potatoes, green beans, and a salad.
Yum. I try a CBD seltzer drink that a friend gave me and it's like drinking flowers (aka not good). At some point Wes points a butter knife at me so he get put in time out with no dessert. He is NOT happy about this, but we don't back down.

8- Izzy runs upstairs to get pajamas on. I grab laundry and throw some into the washer. I drag clean laundry that has been sitting in a bin since the weekend and drag that upstairs. Chris starts to read Harry Potter book 4 to Izzy.

8:30- I'm upstairs just starting to work when Wes comes running upstairs and turns on the other lights in the bedroom for me. He then starts jumping up and down because he has to poo. He yells that he needs me to turn the light on in the bathroom for him; I tell him to do it himself. After 30 seconds of jumping around he heads to the bathroom to turn the light on and sit on the toilet. "Mommy can you wipe my butt?"  I make him wipe once before I head in the bathroom to finish the job. I'm back working when Izzy bounds up the stairs and jumps into my lap. CP gets Wes to put on his pajamas and brush his teeth. I get hugs from both kids, CP gets them into bed while I work.

9:30- Change out the laundry and go to the bathroom. Back to work.

10:45- change laundry again. CP is on the couch in the basement after running. Help Wes, crying over ? Finish work for the night (early!).

Read until 11:30.

Play on phone until 12, sending pictures to myself for this post. Go to bed.

Day in the Life- Winter 2020

Day in the Life- Winter 2020
Thursday, February 13th

CP is 43, NSC is 41, Izzy is 6, Wes is 3.5
Marshmallow and Cocoa are ?

5- The alarm goes off and CP heads downstairs to do some stretches for his back and make breakfast. I fall back asleep. CP comes back upstairs and takes a lazy shower.

6:35- I hear CP open Wes and Izzy's doors to wake them up. The new-ish routine is for Wes to then run into our bedroom to wake me up and get me out of bed (this is really to get HIM out of bed). So he happily jumps on the bed and me to wake me up. I get out of bed and follow Wes to the bathroom because although he is fully capable of pulling the stool over the to the toilet, pulling down his pants and pullup and peeing, I have to be in the bathroom with him (eye roll). I put my contacts in and put deodorant on. Wes washes his hands and we head into his room.

As we are pulling out shirts for the day, Wes tells me that the last person downstairs will be a rotten T-Rex.

I hear Izzy getting upset in her room because she can't find her unicorn sweatpants and it is supposed to be cold today. I tell her that they are likely in the wash and head to her room to help her find other warm pants while CP goes to help Wes get dressed.

Everyone heads downstairs while I head to our room to get dressed. CP is working on making banana boats for breakfast (a banana with peanut butter on it), when I see that Wes has on long underwear for pants instead of actual pants. I grab Wes a new pair of pants and then put on boots, a hat, and gloves to shovel the snow from last night off the driveway. Thankfully it is super light.

Part of the way through I randomly decide that today is going to be a DITL. I also notice that our neighbor has a bunch of flamingos in her yard to celebrate her 50th birthday. Ha!

7:10- I kiss CP goodbye and he leaves for work. As always, I am so amazed that he is okay with the fact that he gets up and two hours later he leaves for work, but he never complains (as I would!).

7:12- I finish shoveling and head inside to wrangle the kids. Izzy heads over to the neighbors house for a ride to school.

Gearing up for the cold, snowy weather

Wes ran over to Izzy crying because he hadn't hugged her goodbye. This is not typical

7:20- I get Wes into the car after telling him that he shouldn't walk around in the snow with shoes on. As he gets into the car, he complains about wet shoes.

So nice to see sun in the morning as the days get longer!

7:30- I drop Wes off at school, happy that a classmate grabbed him and got him excited to build a tower. I never know if it will be a struggle to leave Wes at daycare or an easy day. My neighbor texted to borrow our travel car seat for her sister's kid this weekend; I reply that I will be home in a few minutes and can bring it over.

I get home and my neighbor walks over and asks if I dropped a phone. I didn't but I can see from the back that it is CP's work phone which he dropped in the driveway, in the snow, either last night and this morning. I get in the house and text him that I found his phone, then plug it in because it is dead.

I head down to the basement, grab the travel car seat and walk it over to our neighbor's house. I head back in the house, fill up my water bottle and head downstairs for Morning Meltdown 100 Workout #98: Fight Club!

(Side note: I happened to look back on my Fall DITL from October and that day I did workout #10 so it has taken me a LONG time to get to the end!)

My stomach growls in the middle of my workout which means I need to drink some more water, but otherwise it was enjoyable.

Before I head upstairs I start the laundry because it is piling up. I head upstairs and cross out #98 on my sheet. I seriously can't believe that I am almost done!

Laundry: the bane of my existence

SOOOOO close to the end!

I grab some more water then head upstairs to shower and get dressed while listening to Scene on Radio- Seeing White Part 5. <-----highly recommend="" series="" span="" this="">

9am- Turn on computer and start working. Most days I try to start either by 8 or 8:30 but it's nice to get my workout out of the way for the day and I have been trying to not work as much as next month work is going to be INSANE.

My view today

9:40- I walk downstairs to make tea. I move laundry from washer to dryer & put in a new load while waiting for water to boil.

10- First call of the day while snowplows are barreling down my street.

10:50- Move laundry again, get more water, go to the bathroom.

11- I jump on another call. The call was supposed to be two hours, but was done after 45 minutes. Pee again (I always thought that I peed a lot as I love to drink water but Intermittent Fasting makes me pee even more!)

12- Do some work before my next call at 1pm. Change laundry, another bathroom break. I am definitely ready to eat and hungry, but don't have enough time before my 1pm call so I will wait another hour. I finished eating at 6pm last night so I'll do my second 20 hour fast this week!

1- Called my colleague and then realized that I forgot to invite her to our call so she double booked- whoops! Instead I go to the USPS website to create an account and hold our mail for our upcoming vacation.

1:30- My colleague can jump on a call so we talk for a few minutes.

2:15- I head downstairs for lunch. Fast ended after 20 hours, 24 minutes with three scrambled eggs on a corn tortilla with corn and bean salsa on top, a cup of coffee with Sugar Free Peppermint Mocha creamer, and an orange. Read the Washington Post's Daily 202 newsletter as I eat.

Cocoa wants some pets before I go back upstairs

2:45- Back upstairs for more work.

3- I remember that I need to get Wes' ice skates sharpened so I run to a local ice skating shop to drop them off. I'm back within 30 minutes and I'm working again.

4:25- Start watching a webinar. Get the call that the ice skates are ready.

5- I head downstairs to grab laundry out of dryer and pick up ice skates. CP suggests that I pick up Subway for the kids dinner.

(At this point I forget I am doing a DITL and there are no more pictures!)

5:30- After grabbing dinner, I call CP and he asks if I can pick up Wes since he is running late. I drive to his daycare and pick him up.

5:50- Wes and I are home. I ask him to wash his hands while I start to set the table & heat up the adult dinner (gumbo with rice). Izzy & CP get home. We all eat dinner.

6:20- Izzy and I leave for Girl Scouts. A fellow mom leads the discussion on responsibility with the girls while I sit with some of the moms to discuss dates for a cookie booth next month.

7:25- Girl Scouts is over and I have trouble getting Izzy to stop playing and put her jacket on. We have a discussion in our short drive home about the importance of listening to me. Once we get home
we put the Girl Scout cookies on counter. Wes and CP are upstairs reading already.

7:45- I ask Izzy to put on her pajamas while I scoop cat litter & try to fold some laundry. She pouts b/c I tell her that I am disappointed in her for running away from me at Girl Scouts and that as of right now, she isn’t getting a book tonight.

I say goodnight to Wes who wants to give me a hug, get noses, cross eyes & give head bumps.

I give Izzy the chance to get a book by putting away her laundry. She does, so I read
three Rebel Girl 2 stories. The last one was about Celia Cruz so I quickly play one of her salsa songs. Izzy's comment is that Celia “sounds like a man singing.”

Izzy wants to show me how she can do two perfect belly breaths, so she does, I give her a hug and a kiss and turn out her light. Wes wants another hug so I go into his room and give him another hug. I grab the cat litter bag that CP passed on his way down the stairs and of course didn't pick up to throw away and bring it outside to the garbage. Damn it's cold out!

CP is on the couch doing work because a coworker stopped him & reminded him right as he was leaving that he needed something by tomorrow. I turn on the tv and start eating too many Dos-si-dos. Damn my fasting window should have started at 6:20 but now it is pushed back to 8:45. But mmmm the Dos-si-dos were good.

We watch episode two of the Pharmacist on Netflix. Halfway through I do the dishes and start the dishwasher. Once we finish the Pharmacist episode we turn on Planet Earth 2. We discuss tomorrow’s plans- we going to the night orchid exhibit at the Chicago Botanic Garden with the kids.

9:50- CP gives me a kiss & heads upstairs.

10:10- I do love planet earth but it is time to go to bed! Thankfully there is a commercial & I head upstairs at 10:19.

Before I head up the stairs I put the kid's valentines in their backpacks so that we don't forget them tomorrow.

I brush my teeth, take out my contacts, and quietly put on my pajamas. Cp is already asleep, no snoring so far- yay!

10:40- Turn on my phone alarm for 5am tomorrow & plug in phone. Turn on white noise app to waves. Good night!

Day in the Life- Fall 2019

Day in the Life- Fall 2019
Thursday, October 17th

CP is 43, NSC is 40, Izzy turns 6 in one month, Wes is 3.25.
Marshmallow and Cocoa are ?

It has taken me two weeks to edit this and post it. Such is my life these days.

3:30 am- I wake up to Izzy crying. She had a bad dream and wants me to sleep with her. That is not going to happen so I rub her back and talk to her about good things she can think about before she lets me go back to bed.

5:30am- my alarm goes off and CP gets out of bed to shower and have breakfast. I roll back to sleep. In my dream I am super pregnant and about to have a baby (uhhhh not going to happen).

6:30am- CP wakes me up by turning on the light in our room and does the same for the kids in their rooms. I get out of bed to go to the bathroom but need to wait for Izzy to finish peeing. Wes is still hiding in his bed. Izzy runs back into her room to put her clothes on but starts crying because the pants are too tight. I check the label and they are last year's pants so I get her another bigger pair. Wes is yelling for me to help him get dressed so I head into his room while telling him to ask nicely. I get him dressed and then kids head downstairs with CP to get some grapes. I put in my contacts and get dressed quickly to head downstairs.

6:50am- CP is unloading the dishwasher and I tell him that he should leave. Kids give CP hugs, I give him a kiss goodbye. Kids start fighting over stickers (eye roll). I make the kids get their shoes on and jackets as we are heading to school soon. I text my neighbor that her daughter can come over whenever she is ready. I get the kids out the door and turn on the car to warm it up a bit. Today is the first day our neighbor's daughter will drive with me to school and she is hesitant. Her mom has to walk her over and I try to pump her up by saying that she can sit in the back with Izzy and that we have cool sliding doors (this is her first time being in a car with anyone that is not family). I cringe at the mess that is my car but I guess it could be worse?

7:10am- We eventually get her in, everyone gets buckled up and I slowly drive the girls to Kindergarten. Wes talks nonstop.

7:25am- I drop off the girls and then deal with Wes' crying fit because I won't pick him up to walk to the car. I finally get him in the car after refusing to pick him up and we drive to his school.

7:40am- Drop Wes off, see friends on the way out and head back to my house. Make a cup of coffee with Sugar Free Peppermint Mocha creamer, make eggs and eat on a corn tortilla with a little bit of salsa. Spend too much time reading the news (Elijah Cummings died- oh no!).

8:15am- I head upstairs to turn my computer on. Check email and start to get settled into work.

9:15am- I check my schedule and realize that I should work out now so that I have time to shower before I have to get on camera for a later meeting. I head downstairs to do Day 10 of 100 Morning Meltdown (Beachbody). Thankfully it is re-vibe which is a stretching day. We did a lot of leg work and lifting yesterday so this feels nice.

9:40am- I'm walking up the stairs when my colleague calls and we have a quick conversation about our onsite visit to a community next week.

10am- First scheduled phone call of the day.  I'm mostly lost in the conversation as it is around work plan management on our contracts so I mostly just listen.

10:40am- Decide to quickly shower in between calls. Usually I try to work out and shower and then start my day a little later but that didn't happen today.

11am- Another call which is scheduled for an hour but ends up only lasting 15 minutes. Woo hoo! I do other work.

12:15pm- Downstairs for lunch. Salmon, butternut squash soup and a little 4 bean salad while I read The Daily 202 from the Washington Post. I do the dishes.

12:45pm- Back upstairs and working again. Since it's after lunch it's time for Marshmallow to start bothering me because the cats have now eaten all of their dry food and are DESPERATE FOR FOOD. FEED ME!

1:25pm- I'm a bit tired so I head downstairs to make some hi-caffeinated black tea to warm me up AND wake me up!

1:30pm- Our internal team meeting starts and we weren't going to do an on-camera call after all because two of the team members are gone, but one team member just got an adorable kitten so we turn on our cameras to ooh and aah. Marshmallow is close by so I pick her up to show her off too. A quick 30 minute call.

2:45pm- I go into my candy drawer and eat a bunch of Skittles. Damn. Afterward I pop a stick of Watermelon sugar free gum into my mouth to try to curb my sweet tooth. I work on a presentation for next week and print out some documents.

3:45pm- I hear a squirrel squawking outside, possibly at me so I open up the window so that the cats can hear and see the squirrel. They get very interested in watching him race up and down the tree outside and end up jumping on the windowsill for a closer look.

4pm- I order a 12 cup bundt pan for pick up at Target in a few hours for my mom's birthday tomorrow (we are headed up to MI). I grab a few pretzel thins for a snack as well.

4:30pm- I need to get out of the house so I take a quick walk a few blocks away to mail a letter. I start listening to the newest Pod Save America podcast on the debate but end up calling CP to figure out dinner. I have a late call and CP is headed out with a friend tonight so we decide that after CP picks up the kids, he will pick up Subway on the way home. I head upstairs and find out that you can order Subway online.

5pm- I jump on a call with a community on the West Coast. Looks like I will have to fly out there in mid November.

5:40pm- CP texts to let me know that kids are crying. There may have been something that I was supposed to attend tonight??? I have no idea what he is talking about and hope that he is joking.

5:55pm- Off my call and head downstairs to feed the cats before the crying kids come home.

6- Izzy is crying because we missed something to do with dodgeball and dinner? (I found out the next morning that we were not receiving any emails from the enrichment director and we did miss something the night before.) The kids and I sit down to eat Subway and are halfway through dinner when CP's friend arrives from the train (they are going out for dinner and drinks).

6:28- I rush the kids out the door and drive Izzy to Girls Scouts. It's nice to be able to drop her off so that Wes and I can run an errand. As we leave the church, I ask Wes if he needs to go to the bathroom, he says no. As soon as I have him buckled in the car, he tells me that he has to go to the bathroom. Seriously?!?!? So we head back inside to the bathroom.

6:40- Off again and headed to Target to pick up the bundt pan. When I am walking through the self-checkout area, a woman is having trouble (English is definitely not her first language), so I help her check out.

7:25- Wes and I are back at the church and find Izzy in the gym holding a can of root beer on her knee. I guess she banged her knee but as soon as I arrive, she starts running around with her friends so she is clearly fine.

7:40- I wrangle the kids in their jackets and we head home. I get both of them upstairs and start with getting Wes to use the bathroom, put Wes' foot in a water bath then slap a Compound W bandaid on his wart on the bottom of his foot, and then brush his teeth.

We head into his room to put on his pajamas while Izzy brushes her teeth and puts on her pajamas.

The kids fight over what book I should read but finally settle on Marlon Bundo (the John Oliver book). Their dialogue is hilarious as at the end, the two boy bunnies marry- Wes-" How old are the bunnies? I think 5 or 6." Izzy- "You have to be older to marry. Bunnies don't marry."

I ask Izzy to head to her room while I put Wes to bed. I say good night to Wes and tuck him into his blankets.

I head into Izzy's room and she is worried about having bad dreams again tonight. I tell her a few things to think about as she is sleeping.

8:21- I head downstairs and change a load of laundry and scoop the cat litter. While watching Grey's Anatomy I make soup.

The cats start licking each other which means they will be fighting at some point tonight.

I then take out the recycling.

9:40- I finish making the soup, Grey's is over, and it's time for the cats to play. I start This is Us as I wash dishes.

10:10- I package up the soup to put in the freezer.

10:30- CP gets home. I bring the soup down to the freezer. We talk for a bit and head upstairs. I change into pajamas, brush my teeth, take out my contacts and get into bed. I kiss CP goodnight and the light goes off at 11pm.
