So CP came up with an idea that I absolutely LOVE. To have all of the grandparents read a short baby book into some sort of device and play it for the baby every night. That way not only will the baby recognize our voices, but also the voices of its grandparents (my parents are here and will be seeing their first grandchild a lot, but CP's parents are both in NH). Genius and completely adorable, right? My heart completely melted when he told me this plan this week (my mom teared up when I told her the plan).
I just found recordable storybooks so maybe that's what we do for this little project? Any other suggestions? I want to get working on this soon because I'm basically down to two months before this baby is evicted! (eekkkk!)

This afternoon I leave for CT and I'm really excited. Tomorrow is my first baby shower so I'm excited to see friends as well as celebrate this pregnancy. My friends in CT went through the thick of my infertility- my fibroid/endo surgery, the unsuccessful IUIs, and all of the other crappy months that we couldn't get pregnant, so celebrate we will! CP doesn't get in from LA until tonight so he will be meeting me out there tomorrow. The shower is going to be a Jack & Jill shower so men are welcome which should be interesting. And since I know my friends in CT, I also know that there is going to be plenty of alcohol (with lots of water for me of course). Either way it should be fun!!

Love the idea of recording all four grandparents reading books! You could also get CP's parents to begin using Skype or Google Hangouts. Now that my parents are living in Italy, it's the only way I talk to them ... and the bonus is Gavin gets to see them. At age (almost) 3, he totally gets it. But, in your case, it could just be the exposure to CP's parents' voices during your calls that will familiarize him/her with them.
Hope you enjoy the baby shower and have fun in CT!
That's such a cute idea. Love that CP came up with it!
He may not be wanting to talk to your baby belly, but that is one of the sweetest things I've heard! What a great idea! Have fun at your shower!
I love, love, love the idea of doing the storybooks for the baby to listen to - that's such a cute idea for family that isn't close.
That is a VERY cool idea. I'm impressed CP thought of it.
That is seriously one of the best ideas I've heard! And since not everyone has a family of squats like Hubster and I, I would like to recommend "go the fuck to sleep." If that's too much, I still recommend you get that book. It's hilarious.
The audio book recordings is really precious. Love the idea! hope your shower went well!
So cute. I actually read somewhere that babies will recognize a story that was read to them in utero. I actually got a book as a shower gift to do just that. And then...well..I never really had a chance to do it.
For the record, I couldn't get my husband to talk to my belly either. He also seemed a little hesitant to touch it too much. I'm not sure why.
That's such a sweet idea!
We skype a lot with H's parents, but not with my family, maybe we should start that so that the babies remember the voices...
