This holiday was the first time I had seen CP’s sister, husband and two kids since CP and I got engaged. Everyone thought it was hilarious to have the kids (ages 4 and 6) call me “Aunt Non Sequitur Chica” instead of “Miss Non Sequitur Chica” as they have been calling me. I have to admit- it sounded VERY weird. Not to mention hearing my future mother-in-law introduce me as her “future daughter-in-law.” Why do I think that it is so weird? Why do I giggle every time I think of my parents having a son-in-law?

Yesterday I got a call from the local NPR station thanking me for my gift this year. The woman asked if she could ask a few questions about why I gave, why I think that it is important, why I listen to NPR, etc. so that she could record it to play during the next pledge drive. I personally think that I said “umm” too many times, but I guess they can edit it out. If they end up playing my tape that is going to be WEIRD hearing my voice on the radio!

My in-laws are teaching their two year old to call me Auntie Nilsa. Even after we officially tied the knot, it still sounds strange. I'm with ya on that.
And I'm totally going to listen for you on NPR ... I usually change the station during their pledge drives, but you've just convinced me to tune in! =)

Torsten doesn't have siblings, so I guess I'll only be Aunt Jess if my sister has kids. Oh well.
I will only be on the local NPR station here in MA (if they decide to use me of course)....not in DC or Chicago. Sorry guys!
I can imagine hearing you're an Aunt is kinda weird. And having parents-in-laws. I'm sure whenever it happens to me, I'll have some good awkward laughs about it.
And as far as the 'umms,' I know for a fact they can edit them out. Whenever I do videos for the paper, I find myself editing some of the umms out or just editing the story around them. It's so cool you were interviewed by NPR!
