How many of you think that you are wearing the correct bra size? Before this weekend, I would have raised my hand. According to a quick internet search including this Time Magazine article, about 70-80% of women wear the wrong bra size. And until Sunday, I would have been included in that high percentage.....
After my mom and I got pedicures on Sunday, she wanted to stop by Nordstrom’s to look for something. We happened to go into the lingerie dept and I mentioned that I wasn’t really a huge fan of my current bras because although they were minimizers, my boobs constantly would fall out the bottom of the bra. Surely there was something else I could wear that was a better fit.
When we walked over to the register, the woman working asked if I wanted to get measured and I thought, why not? It had probably been 10-15 years (!!!!) since I had been measured …
The woman quickly informed me that my current bras of 38DD and 40DD were not my correct size. Turns out, I am a 36DDD otherwise known as a 36FF. WHAT??!??? I totally didn’t believe her so when she left to go find a few styles for me to try on, I measured myself!! I couldn’t fathom that I was still the same size around my chest after gaining the weight I did in law school.
Holy f I have big boobs!!!! So, all of my current bras will go to the Salvation Army and I have 4 new ones in the correct size for the time being. *sigh* No wonder it’s hard to find things that fit!!!!!
The moral of the story? Even if you have small boobs, get checked at a local department store or nice bra store to make sure you are wearing the correct size! I can’t tell you what a difference my new bras make! I haven’t had to stuff either boob back into place when hitting up the bathroom- something that happened quite frequently just a week ago. :-)
Did I convince you to go out and get your correct bra size yet???

That's so interesting and CRAZY! I kinda want to be remeasured for my bra size, as well, even though I did it a few years ago after Italy.
Thanks for sharing! I'm happy the new bras are working a lot better for you, too!
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Because my boobs have grown over the past couple years with my weight gain. I used to be a 34B. By the time my wedding rolled around, I was a C. And I may even be a D by now (I can't remember). I should definitely go get measured as a lot of my bras don't fit any more (and I don't even bother trying to wear them).
I am a small but think that my cup size has gone up. I may get measured.
I just recently got measured after my fiance forced me. He was sick and tired of listening to me whine and cry about my bras hurting me. He even gave me the money to get new bras if I promised to make sure they measured me first!!
I was measured at my reduction surgery consult and I was 1 cup size bigger and 2 band sizes smaller than I was wearing. Try and find a 30DDD bra anywhere. I've come to love the online site figleaves. They even have bra sized swimsuits for us well-endowed. Doesn't it feel great to have the right size though? BTW, the lady was wrong, DDD=E, not FF.
