CP's last night in CT

Tonight is CP’s last night in CT.  I can’t believe that he is leaving for IL already.  All of his clothes are gone from our closet which completely weirded me out this morning.  He has been enjoying his week of freedom from work, even if it has been 90+ degrees for the past three days.

We are headed to a friend’s house tonight to hang out before CP leaves early tomorrow morning.  I know that it is silly, but I am likely to cry tomorrow morning as he is leaving because I won’t see him for three weeks.  And even then, my trip out to Chicago in mid-July will be a quick long weekend to house hunt.  I know that there are plenty of people that go long periods to time without seeing their significant others, so three weeks to those people is nothing.  But I function a lot better when I am in the same state as my husband.

Living in our house without him is going to be weird.  He had to teach me how to use our lawn mower a few days ago- that machine and I are not going to be friends.  And today when I get home from work I get to learn how to use the weed wacker- joy! (eye roll)  The sugar snap pea plants, the green pole bean plants, the yellow wax bean plants, the lettuce, and the swiss chard plants are currently growing like crazy in this weather- I have no idea how I am going to keep up with eating everything without him!  The dogs are definitely going to miss him and I will miss that he gets up early to take them out on the weekends.  :-)

My saving grace is that I will still be around friends- hopefully I will stay nice and busy while he is gone so that I don’t have to dwell on it too much.  While I won’t starve without him, I certainly will not eat as well as when he is around.  Yesterday he even made me a big pot of chili so that would have food through the weekend (awww he is so sweet).  I have already stocked up on Ramen for those days that I just don’t want to cook.*

So if my writing sounds sad or depressed until August 3rd when I pack up the car with my clothes and the dogs for what should be a really fun day drive (insert another eye roll), you know why.

*Yes I realize Ramen is NASTY and processed, but it is also inexpensive and we are trying to save money for a larger down payment in Chicago.  Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I am totally with you regarding spending nights away from your spouse. To be honest, I don't think my husband and I have spent more than a night or two apart.

So funny that you'll be heading to Chicago on August 3rd. We'll be driving east that weekend to commence our 2-week vacation! We'll have to wave to each other somewhere halfway. =)

Nothing wrong with some ramen! I'm a fan!

I wish you all the very best in the next few weeks! Sounds like it'll be so busy, but for all good reasons!

Three weeks is not nothing, and it's completely normal to feel sad :( In this year of longdistance relationship with Nick, I've found that the first few weeks were the hardest every time we were separated. Plus, it's harder when you're used to living together all the time.. But this being said, the reunion moment will make it all worth it :D

The month of July will fly by and it'll be August 3rd before you know it :)

So yesterday marked two weeks since I've seen Andrew and I've been a little bit of an emotional wreck, which makes me feel so, so silly. Wednesday I just stared at his empty desk at work day which did nothing to improve my mood. I'm hoping it gets easier as the weeks go by and I totally don't think it's silly to feel like three weeks is a long time - IT IS! I like having my husband around and obviously you do too and no amount of time apart is insignificant, especially when we're right in the middle of it.
