Yesterday’s meal consisted of:
Squash soup
Salad
Turkey
Mashed potatoes with parsley and chives
Stuffing
French bread (made by me!)
Candied parsnips
Peas, carrots and mushrooms
Sweet potato casserole
Cranberry sauce
Gravy
CP tried to cut down on the number of dishes he made this year, but couldn’t help himself and added candied parsnips because the parsnips looked too good at the store on Sunday.
Dessert consisted of:
Pecan pie
Apple pie
Squash pie
(Yes, my MIL went a little crazy in baking for the day- considering there were just FIVE people at our house.)
It’s great having family in town, but you also get really used to your own house and how you keep it….so sometimes it is hard to have guests. CP’s grandmother is like most older folks- she gets cold easily. We usually keep our house at 62 degrees. Not only are we using less energy, but I hate when it is stifling hot. I am usually freezing at 62 so I walk around with a sweater on and if we are watching tv I am usually under a blanket.
Yesterday however, I ended up walking around in a t-shirt because we bumped up the temperature to 68. Between eating a lot, doing dishes, the hot kitchen, etc. the 68 degrees was way too hot. Not only that, but CP and I like it cold when we sleep. Snuggling under the covers is much better than just a sheet on your body when it is cold outside. That just seems….unnatural.
Halfway through the night I only had a sheet covering my body. I’m surprised Fuzzy Britches wasn’t panting in our room. It was time to open up the window and let some cool air in. It was glorious. I’m (almost) happy to be at work today so that I don’t have to be in our hot house.
While I am thankful to have family down for the holiday, I can’t wait until the heat can be turned back down to 62. :-)
How was your Thanksgiving?

62?!?! Holy cold! I'm freezing if our house is below 68. At 62 I'm pretty sure social services would step in here if a house was that cold ;)
My parents complain about "The sauna" at their house when my grandma visits. It cracks me up. Because she always wants a fire in the fireplace too!
62 is freeeeezing!!
