SCH

There is good news, and there is bad news.

The good news is that the baby is measuring great- 8w2d- which is two days ahead.  The heartbeat is at 159 which is also perfect.  My ovaries are still large, but the ultrasound tech said that they may stay that way for another month or so.

The bad news is that I have a subchorionic hemmorhage (SCH).  The ultrasound tech asked if I had any bleeding, which I have not, and said that I might have some.  She made it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal.

Of course as soon as we get home, I do a google search for SCH to see if it is a big deal.  According to one website three things could happen: 1. I could start bleeding, 2. it could cause a miscarriage, or 3. best case scenario, it just resolves itself with no bleeding.  One of the first things I see on a message board about SCH- "My SCH was found when I was 8 weeks (i.e. the same as me), baby's heartbeat was at 161 (again, very similar).  Three days later I passed a large clot, no heartbeat."  After reading that I freaked out and banned myself from Google (we'll see if I am able to stay away).  Right now I'm just waiting for my RE to check out my results today and have the nurse give me a call.

Just last night I was starting to feel more confident and believe that I was actually pregnant.  We even saw the baby move a little during the ultrasound.  It's starting to get leg buds and arm buds (CP thinks it looks like a beluga whale right now).

*sigh*

Definitely stay away from Google! For some reason more people like to share bad stories on there verses good endings etc.

So far no bleeding and great heartbeat!!!

Agree with avoiding Google, it is very common and most often not a big deal!

While google can provide a lot of helpfull information it isn't always the best Dr. to contact. I think stepping away from it is the best thing you can do.

I also agree with Just T, a lot more peopole post their bad stories than the good endings.

Take one day at a time. You got a healthy baby and a strong heartbeat! And you are in great care!

Sending positive thoughts!

Step away from Google! I had a SCH too and all was just fine. I've seen countless women post IVF with the same thing and they all walk away with perfectly healthy babes. According to my RE, who I adore and respect, they see these pretty often in IVF pregnancies and they more often than not resolve by 12 weeks. Hang in there and trust in your baby. xoxo

I had a blood clot and it caused spotting which was a little nerve wracking, but it cleared up all on it's own. Neither of my doctors seemed too concerned about it. Definitely stay away from Dr. Google in cases like this.

Oh, I'm sorry you heard something scary. I also had an SCH identified at eight weeks with Callum. Obviously everything turned out fine, but I definitely freaked myself out over it. My midwives assured me that they are very common and almost always harmless, but of course I went to Google and terrified myself. Just remember that Google has a biased sample. People who had a bad outcome with an SCH are much more likely to be posting on message boards about it than people who had a harmless one. Also lots of people have an SCH and never even know. Your baby is doing great! Try to forget about the SCH. Your odds are great!

I know two people who have had a SCH and both worked out fine. I know it's hard (actually, I've never been able to do it-- ever), but try not to Google! Great to hear about the perfect heartbeat!!!

I know a girl who had an SCH that resolved itself. I am so sorry you have to feel this stress right now. Good for you for banning yourself from Google, I wish I could do the same!

I'm the worst for Google research, but I think for your sanity you need to stay away from it! The fact that you haven't had bleeding is a great sign, so don't create a new problem in your mind.

I had a sch with my pregnancy and she is here safe and healthy. Don't lift over 3 pounds, or stand for more than 15 minutes. Get a drs note for work. I bled through the first trimester, but it eventually resolves itself. It was very scary, but please know that everything could be just fine. Take good care of yourself!! I have been where you are each trip to the bathroom is terrifying. But I found out through google that a lot like 30 percent of people bleed through first trimester.

Just remember that those who post are often those who have the most difficult experiences with things. There's nothing to talk about if everything resolves itself cleanly, right?? Thinking of you, friend!

Step. Away. From. Google.

Whatever else happens, nothing good comes from google in times like these.

I agree with all the others! Thinking positive thoughts for you!

I am so glad all these lovely ladies have such positive stories and advice. I know not a thing about it but I agree that Dr Google is probably unhelpful in this situation. Thinking lots of positive thoughts for you bumb buddy.

My ultrasound tech also made it sound like they were very common, and I take her word for it because she sees a lot of them. She is the one seeing them first, doing followup ultrasounds to track...

Mine resolved itself completely by 12 weeks, with no bleeding. Don't worry too much, it's scary of course, but chances are it will resolve on its own. Thinking of you!

So, at our first ultrasound, we couldn't see the baby, just the sac. The doctor didn't seem too concerned, but was adamant we had to come back a week later for a confirmatory ultrasound that there was a heartbeat. I was fine while leaving the appt.

Then, I googled. Oops.

Then my husband gave some brilliant advice, "Why are you trusting Google over the woman you let stick a dildo up your vagina??"

Good advice. If your medical professional wasn't too concerned, just rest, follow their advice, and take care of yourself.

Chances are, you and baby will be fine!

It's impossible not to worry about every single thing. I love that everyone here has offered up their success stories of themselves or people they know. There a lots of positive examples! Thinking of you!
